Animal Liberation

Moviment Graffitti believes that animals should be given protection and liberation. In fact, it has organized several activities in this regard. The most prominent issues were those concerning the anti-fur, the anti-circus and anti-dolphinarium campaigns, enforcement of animal protection and against animal vivisection. Moviment Graffitti also promotes vegetarianism as a way of life.

As regards the circus campaign, various activities were organized to show our disapproval of the exploitation of animals during circus shows, which animals are bred and kept in captivity.

In 2001, protestors were physically and verbally assaulted by circus crew. When criminal action was taken against such assaulters, these were found guilty and fined. Though the guilty have not paid their fines, we proudly say that circuses utilizing animals in their shows have not visited Malta since then.

Annually, we organize anti-fur activities where we raise awareness on the consumption of fur and leather products. During the festive season, Moviment Graffitti also raises its voice on the consumption of animal products such as turkeys, where members of the movement dressed up as the executed animals.

Pressure on the government and concerned authorities was made regarding the building of shelters for cab-horses. Moviment Graffitti however is still waiting for concrete constructive action to be taken in this regard.
