Activists project images of Gaza horror next to Parliament, urge Maltese Government to act now

Yesterday, activists stood outside Parliament holding placards with information about the ongoing genocide in Gaza and projected images of the horrors unfolding there onto the wall next to Parliament.

Following 77 years of colonisation of Palestinian land by Israel, and nearly two years of Israeli genocidal aggression in Gaza – which has killed over 60,000 Palestinians and devastated the entire territory – Israel is now imposing mass starvation on the Palestinian population.

Children, women, and men are dying of hunger before our eyes. To accept and remain inactive in the face of this horror is to endanger the very essence of our humanity.

The Maltese Government must act now by:

1. Taking a strong and unambiguous stand by condemning Israel and calling for its sanctioning, including the cancellation of the EU-Israel Association Agreement.

2. Prohibiting ships flying the Maltese flag from transporting weapons and military material to Israel, along with a clear and enforced policy preventing ships carrying such material from entering Maltese waters or being serviced by vessels from Malta.

3. Immediately recognising by the State of Palestine.
