DESCRIPTION:The Courts of Law have sensationally declared that the PA permit for Silvio Debono’s monster is “null and void”. \nWe know the fight doesn’t stop here\, but we do have a reason to celebrate this historic courtroom victory. This wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of the residents who have given a very important contribution to this long and difficult campaign: from those who attended protests and meetings\, to those who prepared the banners\, sent their objections to the PA and participated in any way\, including legal assistance. \nWe would like to invite you\, together with your families\, to join us in the a BBQ tar-Rebħa (BBQ for Victory) in Pembroke\, this Friday\, at Martin Luther King. Join us for a breath of fresh air as we celebrate this huge and significant victory that could have only happened thanks to the efforts and determination of residents\, associations and Local Councils. \nMoviment Graffitti will provide music and charcoal BBQ sets. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday 25th January at 6pm we will be holding an informal meeting with our members and with the public during which we will take a look at our work during 2019 and discuss our plans for this year. \nThis initiative will also serve as the Annual General Meeting of Moviment Graffitti. However\, for this meeting we are not inviting only members\, but also all those who would like to know more about our vision and our work\, and those who have any suggestions or thoughts that they would like to share with us. \nAs a leftist organisation which is active in a wide range of economic\, social and environmental issues\, the work of Moviment Graffitti is only possible due to the voluntary contribution of many people who offer their passion\, skills and ideas for our fight for a just society. It is essential for us to continue discussing our work and plans with different people with the aim of enhancing the effectiveness of our activities. \nTowards the end of the meeting we will be screening the documentary ‘R/Evoluzzjoni25’ which\, in 25 minutes\, shows the 25-year history of Moviment Graffitti through interviews and film footage. Although the elimination of violence against women\, unfortunately\, remains a dream\, we will continue fighting towards that end. \n One of the activities we are organising to mark the day is an open mic with the theme – There’s Power in her Words – on Friday\, 26th November at Maori Club in Valletta\, starting at 8.00 p.m. \n We invite women to come and share their powerful words with us on the day to help us raise awareness about this and other issues which women are still facing in this patriarchal society. Women may read their own words or the words of others\, they may read poetry\, parts from a book\, short stories or even sing. Reading and singing in any language are welcome. DESCRIPTION:MGRM\, YMCA Malta\, Moviment Graffitti and friends will be thrifting to fundraise for our LGBTQI+ siblings in Turkey and Syria. \nOur community members will host stalls with clothes\, books\, art and more for you to thrift away at. Food will also be available. Everyone is welcome.\nLater on\, we will push the tables and dance our pent up frustrations away! \nThe earthquakes that shook Turkey and Syria have left the diaspora across the world in shock. What might just be another news item for some of us in Malta is an indescribable trauma\, the magnitude of which we can’t possibly understand. While there has been amazing international support we know that international aid does not reach everyone equally\, because society doesn’t deem everyone equal. The politicians that oppress the LGBTQI+ community in Turkey and Syria are the same that have responded inadequately to the worst natural disaster to ever hit the region. Taxes raised for earthquake disaster relief are being misspent and the lack of disaster relief preparedness has cost too many lives. \nThis is why we are carefully researching the organisations to send money to. In the following days we will be introducing these organisations to you (if we can) and we guarantee that every cent raised will benefit the LGBTQI+ community in the region. \nMassive thanks to Maori bar for offering to host us.

It is also the day when we remember that although in an increasing number of countries\, the LGBTIQ+ community is enjoying more rights\, millions in different parts of the world\, still experience discrimination\, stigma\, violence and abuse\, imprisonment\, and even death. \n On this day we are meeting at Maori\, Triq il-Lanċa\, Valletta to raise awareness about these issues as well as to have some fun. The politicians that oppress the LGBTQI+ community in. Syria are the same that have responded inadequately to the worst natural disaster to ever hit the region. \n Taxes raised for earthquake disaster relief are being misspent and the lack of disaster relief preparedness has cost too many lives. \n Having already done one for a Turkish organisation last March\, we were also meant to fund for a Syrian organisation\, however\, for reasons mentioned above\, this required a bit more research and logistics\, to ensure that the funds will ultimately reach the community. \n We will be raising funds for SGSE/SEEN\, who you can see more about here: https://www.instagram.com/sgse.syria/ \n This will be done thanks to our community members who will return to host stalls with clothes\, books\, art and more for you to thrift away at. \n Everyone is welcome. \n Later on\, we will push the tables and dance our pent up frustrations away! \n Massive thanks to Maori bar for offering to host us.

SUMMARY:Women's Day - Tote Bags Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of creativity as part of our events around this year’s Women’s Day. \nYou can bring an old tote bag and transform it into a feminist one with fabric markers and paints\, or even stick/sew a piece of material on top of unwanted adverts/words on your tote bag. Francesca Zammit from YPB will bring her sewing machine to help us out with creativity. You may also bring an old T-shirt/other fabric and we will transform them into a tote bag during the workshop. \nWe will also have some ready-made tote bags waiting to be transformed into creative and colourful pieces of feminist art. \nThe workshop will last about 2 hours. Throughout it we will also be able to chat\, have a drink and chill. \nThis is a safe space activity: women\, non-binary & trans people\, queers and allies are welcome. We have a right to ask people to leave if they are making others feel unsafe.
